The quails

The quails are from Japan. A quail is a very territorial bird and is capable to kill one of its kind in the same cage. The breeding was reduced because of this problem, we were spending to much time nursing the damaged quails. We still have some quails but they are now free in the chicken pen. If you want to see them, look in the corners, they like to hide there where the chickens can not see them !

The pheasants

We have at the moment 4 young pheasants. We are going to keep one male or the two femelles, to start our pheasant production next year.
Like the quails, the pheasants are wild birds that can injure the other birds with their sharp beaks, specially the other males.

The ducks

The ducks were seperated from the rest of the featherd animals because they use up a impressive amount of water. Plus they do not try to escape so they did not need any netting above them.

The guinea fowl

There are only 2 for the moment. They are very timid birds but are to be respected by the other birds.
